Sustainability and new materials for the packaging of the future

Material science and material research are two things that are  really critical for the industry.

The ambition is to use as much mono-material as possible and here nano technology and plasma materials can come to be useful. Research

Glass is getting thinner - and stronger, metal cans are down gauged to a fraction of their original and within plastics there is a lot of focus on bio-plastics made from renewable sources, sometimes compostable.

Bio-plastics is the fastest growing plastics segment but still representing  only a fragment of total plastics category. The production volume is estimated to be around 8 million tonnes in 2019. This should be compared to the prognosis of 300 million tonnes for fossil based material.
